"That the purpose of this Corporation shall be fraternal, patriotic,
historical, charitable, and educational: to preserve and strengthen
comradeship among its members; to assist worthy comrades; to
perpetuate the memory and history of our dead; and to assist
their widows and orphans; to maintain true allegiance to the
Government of the United States of America, and fidelity to its
Constitution and laws; to foster true patriotism; to maintain and
extend the institutions of American freedom, and to preserve and
defend the United States from all her enemies whomsoever."

The Creston Post 3023 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States was
chartered on May 21, 1934. The Creston Memorial Post 3023 Veterans of
Foreign Wars of the United States was chartered by the consolidation of
the Creston Post 3023 and the Grand Rapids Naval Post 6693 on October
5, 1964. We currently have about 1,000 Post members, about 450 in the
Ladies Auxiliary and over 80 in the recently formed Men's Auxiliary.
The Post also serves as home to the Fred Cochran Detachment 151 of the
Marine Corps League, the Korean War Veterans of West Michigan and the
Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. We also donate meeting facilities to a
number of veteran, fraternal & civic organizations in and around Grand
Rapids.
